Storytelling

Curating effective visuals to communicate across barriers and beyond slabs of grey text. Creating immersive and educational experiences through a combination of graphics, printed materials, physical objects and physical space.

Research

Deep insight into the user experience can be found by using a combination of information gathering methods. Sometimes the most difficult problem to solve is defining the problem.

Brand

Deconstructing a brand into key identity markers, users, and opportunities for expansion guides the design process with informed decision making. See how I define and apply brand to different products.

Storytelling

J&J Tour Wall

Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson brand, takes stakeholders, medical professionals, and salespeople on a tour through their facility to show capabilities and process. I redesigned a stretch of wall outside the design department to tell the story of industrial design for medical devices at the company.

Refugee Job Club Presentations

Using CORE (Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange) lesson materials and IRC (International Rescue Committee) brand guidelines, these presentations are designed to give newly resettled refugees basic knowledge of hiring practices in the United States.

Visual Research Paper - E&PDE Conference 2019

How might we make academic papers more interesting and accessible? I translated a 20-page research paper into a visual narrative and describe the process.

Design History for Instagram

A design history course was made to facilitate conversation and student presentations through the Instagram platform.

J&J Wall Tour

At Ethicon, Inc. stakeholders, medical professionals and sales teams take a tour of the facility to see the capabilities of the company. One stop on the tour is by the design department, where a senior member of the team takes over and explains the story of design at Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson medical devices.

I was asked to reimagine and implement an engaging new stop for the tours. I started by interviewing the senior members of the team to see how they tell the story of design at Ethicon. I consolidated insights from these interviews and started to create a skeleton for the new wall. Another intern and I then printed out mock-ups and scheduled a time for the whole team to review and give feedback.

Branding

Using the J&J brand guidelines booklet, I took fonts, colors, and proportions to the story elements.

Levels of Engagement

Preparing a combination of videos, images, interactive pieces, and actual prototype instruments helps engage the viewer on multiple levels.

ENSI - Accessible Hygiene Products

According to a survey done by Always branded menstrual hygiene products, 1 in every 5 girls in the United States misses school because of her period. This project maps out user experiences and service blueprints for the process of acquiring menstrual hygiene products in public schools.

Endoscopic Delivery - Intuitive Surgical

A sponsored project by Intuitive Surgical in partnership with the university compliant mechanisms research lab. As the only designer in the group I supported development with ideation, sketches, prototyping, and testing.

Mapping Incontinence

Adult incontinence affects the daily lives of millions in the United States. Collected research from interviews, blogs and healthcare providers comes together to paint a picture of what managing incontinence looks like.
